ICML Training Partner Requirements
ICML's exams are offered after training by companies or independent trainers that choose to teach in the BoK of our exams. Each syllabus is publicly available online at Certification and Exams and may be viewed freely by any company or instructor wanting to develop course curricula.
To ensure that the training process is carried out effectively, the following requirements shall be observed:
- Training courses shall follow the relevant training system and the appropriate training requirements of ISO 18436-3.
- Training courses must align with ICML's relevant bodies of knowledge (BoK).
- Training shall be conducted in the form of lectures, demonstrations, and practical exercises with visual, audio, and written communication.
- Training courses must contain sufficient hours to meet the relevant certification requirements, and be carried out effectively and uniformly according to the number of hours specified in each major subject of the relevant area of the BoK.
- Instructors shall have appropriate in-depth technical knowledge and experience in the topics of the training, possess appropriate educational qualification experience and technical expertise which satisfy defined competency criteria for the tasks identified. They shall be familiar with the relevant training system and the appropriate training requirements of ISO 18436, and they must be current ICML-certified at least to the level they are teaching.
- The training body shall maintain records to demonstrate that the training procedures have been effectively fulfilled with respect to application forms, evaluation reports, course activities and any other documents relating to this process.

Please provide a table overview (a breakdown) displaying the number of hours of instruction given for each major subject area, as specified in the relevant BoK.
The minimum number of training hours for each subject area may vary according to the Certification type. For instance, for the MLA I it is required to allocate a minimum of 2.5 hours (or 10%) for all topics under Maintenance Strategy, while for the MLA II the number of training hours required for Oil Analysis Maintenance Strategies subject area is 1 hour (or 4%). The complete list of subject areas and their corresponding training hours is available in the respective Certification BoK.
- Copy of training certificate of completion (Such certificates must be provided to participants who complete the course.)
Each certificate shall include the following:
- the full name of the individual
- the date of training completion
- the number of total training hours
- the title of the training
- the category and level of training
- the name of the training body
- a unique identification number for the individual
- the signature of a designated representative of the training body on the certificate
- the signature of the instructor on the certificate
- the seal or logo of the training body
